Handmade Knives to Order

This program is what we were trying to build on the color pages of The Cutting EdgeŽ from 1990 to 2003. The knifemakers who make the Handmade Knives to Order are makers that have worked with us before. We do our best to only work with makers who can be depended on to deliver knives as agreed and of consistent quality. As time passes we will invite both new and established makers to offer their knives on this site. If we have any of a particular knife on hand we will so state, otherwise delivery will be as stated on the page.

In 1992 I visited a friend who showed me a knife - very primitive indeed - that he had made. I immediately got the urge to make my own knife as well. Although I was rather ashamed to show my first attempt to anyone until a year or so ago, I am now proud to display it above my bar, to show just how far I've come with my knifemaking.

I began making knives in 1983 after watching a show about knifemaking on ETV. Several days later, I walked into George Herron's shop and asked if I could watch. Since then, I've been spending all of my spare time in my shop. It is my belief that a knife is a tool and should be made to function as such. That's why I prefer to make hunters.
